Strobing is the craze at the moment. If you know absolutely nothing about make up you might think it is something completely bizarre. But it’s not, simply put, it’s highlighting. Highlighting on steroids.

When it comes to contouring the face we all know to add highlighter in the usual places. But strobing focuses mainly on the highlight rather than the contour. Strobing gives you that great dewy illuminated look which we all love and want to achieve.

I would say there are about 7 points to focus on when highlighting. The top of your cheek bone (below the outer corner of your eye), under your brow, above your brow, your nose, cupids bow, inner corner of your eye and chin. By highlighting these main points you will create that dewy fresh look you’re aiming for.

You want your highlight to be as “highlighted” as possible. One way to achieve this is to layer. I would suggest starting off with a cream highlight and then go in with a powder highlight. This will set the cream and build your highlight.

When you highlight your nose, depending on the shape of your nose is where you should highlight. if you have a bump in the middle of your nose, highlight the tip of your nose, skipping the bump then towards the top. Highlighting emphasizes, so by highlighting the bump you would only make it more visible. if you have a very pointy nose, stop the highlight just before the tip of your nose and rather contour it a bit more. The same applies if you have a pointy chin, rather skip the highlight.

For those of us with dry skin, strobing is perfect! We all want that fresh glowing dewy look, and this is the way to get it. If you have a fair skin, I would go with a whiter highlight that if you had darker skin. For very dark skins, a gold highlighter will be perfect.

When you strobe, it’s not to say that you shouldn’t contour, but don’t make the contour your main focus.
